DISNEY CARNIVAL BASKET

"If you can dream it, you can do it. Always remember that this whole thing started with a dream and a mouse." Walt Disney

The school carnival will be held on Saturday, May 5. Classes will once again collect items for baskets to be auctioned. The First Grade theme is DISNEY! I'm so excited because the first week in May I'm taking my daughter to Disneyland in California. We're never to old to go and see Mickey and Minnie! Walmart is featuring many new Disney items. There are so many cool and neat Mickey, Minnie and the Disney character items out there to be purchased. Please keep this in mind when shopping. Pick up a few items each shopping trip to send in for our basket collection. I am collecting items now until the end of April. Ready, Set.....Let's GO shopping!

READ YOUR HEART OUT

The First Graders read their hearts out this month! The children read 334 books! I'm so proud of them. I hope they will continue to help their minds to grow by reading a book every day! Reading Book Log Sheets are due for the month of February. Please remind your child to record the minutes they read each day on the March Log Sheets that will be sent home. Thank you for helping your child be "Hooked On Books".

BARTHOLOMEW AND THE OOBLECK

The First Graders participated in an IDL program today titled, "Dr. Seuss". We read the story of Bartholomew and the Ooblek and then made some Oobleck! By special request here is the recipe we used:
2 Tablespoons cornstarch, 1 Tablespoon water and 1 drop green food coloring. Careful not to add to much water. The mixture should be thick and sticky. Your child is very excited to make up some Oobleck at home.....have fun!
