We started growing a Crystal Garden on Friday. I'm amazed at how quickly the crystals began to grow. I took a few pictures this weekend so the children can see the changes. They will be so excited Monday morning!

We're Going To The Zoo, Zoo, Zoo!

On Tuesday, May 4 the first graders are going on a class trip to the Sunset Zoo in Manhattan. The zoo is amazing! I'm looking forward to spending the day viewing the animals. The children are enrolled in a Zoo Adventure class to learn more about reptiles! The cost of the trip is $1.00. Students need to bring their money as soon as possible. The bus will leave at 8:45 a.m. and arrive back to school by 3:00 p.m. Parents are invited, but they will need to drive on their own and pay their own way into the zoo. Cost is $4.00. The children will have a picnic lunch at the zoo. They will need a lunch and drink. You can hear us sing, "We're going to the zoo, zoo, zoo! You can come too, too, too!"

The First Graders are very excited about the projects we are doing in Science. This week we are focusing on weather. I have shared this website in class. It was designed by a meteorologist and has many fun weather related games, experiments and background information. With the spring storm season here, it is a good idea to review safety procedures at home. We had a tornado drill at school today. Please take time to help your child explore the website at home.
