OCTOBER BOOK-IT

Please remind your child to turn in the October Book It Reading calendars by the end of the month. I would like to highly encourage our first graders to participate in the November Reading Book It Club. Information will be sent home Monday, November 3 in your child's Homework Folder. Thank you for listening to your child read every day!

CLASS HALLOWEEN PARTY

Friday, October 31 the children may bring their costumes to school in a sack or bag. After lunch (11:20) we will dress in our costumes and sing at the nursing home at 11:45. Please keep costumes simple, no makeup or weapons. After we return to the classroom we will enjoy a game or movie and refreshments. Have a "Boo"-tiful Halloween!

50th DAY OF SCHOOL

The First Graders will celebrate the 50th day of school on Tuesday, October 28th. We will have a 50's dress up day! Start planning now how you can dress up your child for this special day.

TECNOLOGY TUESDAY

The end of the first nine weeks has arrived! The first quarter of school sure flew by. The children are soaring high and doing well to meet our high expectations! I'm very proud of all they have accomplished in the first 45 days of school. Cheers to the First Graders! Here are the websites for Technology Tuesday. In reading one of the LIFT groups is working on digraphs. The reading site will help to reinforce the sounds that go together to make one sound. The math link will provide practice with related facts known as "Fact Families".

PEYTON-STUDENT OF THE WEEK

BOOK IT

Pizza Hut is once again offering the Reading incentive program for our students. Information was sent home Monday. If you haven't seen the note and orange calendar please let me know. The program begins October 1 and ends March 31. Our goal to earn a free personal pizza is that your child will read for 200 min. this month. Fill out the minutes read on the calendar log sheet and return at the end of the month. I highly encourage our first graders to participate in the Reading Book It Club. Anytime we can put books into the hands of our children good things will happen. I wish for my students the love of reading! What an adventure it can be.....snuggle up with a good book and your child!
