Learning About Life Cycles

The children are having fun learning about the lifecycle of the darkling beetle. We have mealworms in the larva stage that the girls and boys are observing. Some found it a challenge to keep their mealworm on the plate! We hope to soon have some pupas. We will keep you updated on the growth and development.

Back From Spring Break

Had a fabulous time in Hawaii! Brought back a book to share with the children about the Sea Turtles and 2 stuffed turtles. I enjoyed teaching the first graders the alphabet in Hawaiian. They had fun touching and feeling the beach sand that I also brought back. What a tropical paradise the islands are. Hoping that some of the warm weather finds it's way back to Wakefield!

ALOHA

It's SpRiNg BrEaK time! Coach Seirer and I are heading to warmer weather. We'll be visiting my brother in Los Angeles, California and heading onto Maui, Hawaii! We're looking forward to snorkeling and relaxing on the beaches. I'm hoping to snorkel with the sea turtles. The humpback whales are at peak migration time. Wishing all my students a wonderful week! Until we meet again, ALOHA!

Dr. Seuss Week

We LOVE you Dr. Seuss!

What a grand time the first graders had this past week celebrating Dr. Seuss! The Cat in the Hat made a surprise visit on Friday and what a treat it was!

FIRST GRADERS VISIT THE BANK

The First Graders visited the Farmers and Merchants State bank in Wakefield on Wednesday, March 3. The children learned how money is counted and sorted. They had fun going into the safe and looking at old money. The children pretended to make a deposit and acted out being a banker. A special THANK YOU to Phil and Millie for making our visit so special!
