PAJAMA DAY

The First Graders have once again worked hard on good behaviors! The children have earned 100 marbles for being shining stars! Their reward is a "Pajama Day" on Friday, Feb. 15. Please remind your child to wear their PJ's (school appropriate) slippers and bring a stuffed animal. If they have bedtime books they enjoy....please send! We'll snuggle up with a good bedtime story and enjoy some quiet time.

TECHNOLOGY THURSDAY

Groundhog day was Saturday, February 2. Phil didn't see his shadow..so he predicts an early spring! With the warmer weather we've been having it looks like he could be right. The children are enjoying going out for recess with no coats! Below are games the children will enjoy playing in honor of Groundhog's Day! The first game is a memory matching activity with a hidden picture! Here's to spring!

In math the children are starting a unit on counting money. Get out your spare change and practice counting money with your child this month!

100th DAY OF SCHOOL

The First Graders celebrated 100 Days of school on Tuesday, February 5. The children brought 100 things to share with special visitors. First Graders were recognized for their outstanding job writing numbers to 1,000. Samara won the 100 Day Balloon which contained a surprise from the Wakefield Short Stop. Jaiden won the 100 Things We Have Learned in First Grade chain. I would like to thank all the First Grade parents for donating cupcakes for the celebration. Your support helped to make the celebration a wonderful day!

CELEBRATING THE 100TH DAY OF SCHOOL

Due to the snow day the 100th Day is moved back a day to Tuesday, February 5. However, we will still attend the 100 Day activities in Clay Center on Monday, Feb. 4. They are not able to change their date. If your child signed up for a school prepared sack lunch then a lunch will be provided. Those who did not will need to bring their own lunch and drink. We are meeting with all the First Graders in the district for some fun 100 day activities beginning at 9:00 a.m. We are leaving at 8:20 and will return back to Wakefield by 1:30. Please make sure your child dresses comfortable this day. If your child has a Wakefield School Flyer shirt they might want to wear it.
