THE SUMMER SLIDE

Children learn best when their learning is not interrupted. And summer vacation is a long interruption. Without practice, children forget facts and important, "how to" skills. They fall behind because they don't practice this skills daily. Avoid the summer slide by taking your child to the library! It is proven that reading at least 8 books can create a bridge between June and August. Summer Reading material has been sent home. Please take advantage of the opportunities at our public library! Sign up for the summer reading program and attend the storytimes. Plan to beat the "Summer Slide"!

FUN AND FABULOUS DAY AT THE ZOO

The children had a wonderful day at the zoo! We saw many animals and learned about animal classification at the Discovery Program. Please check out the Sunset Zoo web page. The zoo is offering summer camp classes for children that sound very interesting. The zoo will be open for Mother's Day with flowers for the first 50 mothers and free admission when accompied by a child.
