EARTH DAY

Earth Day inspires awareness and appreciation for our planet's natural resources and environment. The children have been learning how to save our resources, reuse materials, and recycle. We have made a promise to make our Earth a beautiful place. Here are a few websites that provide wonderful learning opportunities on how to make everyday an Earth Day!

SCHOOL CARNIVAL

PTO FUNDRAISER FOR OUR STUDENTS & TEACHERS
The school carnival will be held on Saturday, May 10. Classes will once again collect items for baskets to be auctioned. The First Grade theme is:
SOMETHING FOR MOM
SOMETHING FOR DAD
There are so many neat items that moms and dads would like. Check at the Dollar General, Dollar Tree and Walmart. Please keep this in mind when shopping these next weeks. Pick up a few items each shopping trip to send in for our basket collection.
Only 31 days until the carnival!
READY, SET…..LET’S GO SHOPPING!

NO SCHOOL

Friday, April 11 there is No School. Teachers will be in meetings in the morning and work time is scheduled for the afternoon. Due to the short week testing will take place Thursday! Please help your child study their spelling words. Thank you!

BRAIN SMART PROGRAM

Thank you to the Pilot Ladies from Clay Center for helping the first graders learn about protecting their brain. A group of 4 Pilot members presented an entertaining puppet show for the children. The presentation stressed the importance of keeping our brains safe by wearing a helmet. A drawing was held for 2 children to win a bike helmet! I hope the children will always remember to wear a helmet and be BRAIN SMART!

SPELLING CITY

The children will be practicing spelling words in the computer lab today. Here is the link so that they may also practice at home! The words seem to be getting harder as the year is progressing. Test grades are very important. Please take time to help your child study at home each week. Thank you!
