WE'RE GOING TO THE ZOO, ZOO, ZOO!

On Tuesday, May 8 the first graders are going on a class trip to the Sunset Zoo in Manhattan. The zoo is amazing! I'm looking forward to spending the day viewing the animals. The children are enrolled in an Invest-I-Gators discovery class titled, " The Rearranged Zoo". With Sunset Zoo as the backdrop the children will have the unique opportunity to explore and reinforce animal classification. We will tour the zoo looking for similarities among animals and engage in a classification activity involving animal skulls. PTO is paying for the cost of the admission and program fees. THANK YOU PTO! The bus will leave at 8:45 a.m. and arrive back to school by 3:15 p.m. Parents are invited, but they will need to drive on their own and pay their own way into the zoo. Cost is $4.00. The cost of the Discovery Program is $2.50 per person/child if you attend. The children will have a picnic lunch at the zoo. They will need a lunch and drink. Please DO NOT send any money with your child. You can hear us sing, "We're going to the zoo, zoo, zoo! You can come too, too, too!"

TECHNOLOGY THURSDAY

The weather feels like summer and our year is nearing the end. I am a bit like the children and excited for summer vacation. I'm also sad at the same time because it will be time to say farewell to my little bumbles! I hope I've given them strong and sturdy wings to fly! The children will be taking end of the year assessments these next few weeks. Here are a few websites to help the children review.

DISNEY CARNIVAL BASKET

Please remember to send items for our Disney Carnival Basket. The carnival is Saturday, May 5. We really could use many more donations! Our basket will be auctioned at the carnival. The money we raise will help to buy classroom supplies and materials for the children. Thank you to all that support our PTO! Go Disney.......

TESTING

The children are taking the end of unit skills test this week. There will not be any spelling words. We plan on reading at the Nursing Home Friday, April 27. It's hard to believe that the end of school is so near! Only 22 days left....where did the past 150 go?
