Trooper Seirer Visits The First Grade Class

Our son Marcus recently completed training with the Kansas Highway Patrol at the academy in Salina. His duty station is Topeka, Kansas. Marcus stopped by the classroom and introduced himself. He visited with the children about his duties as a trooper and gave them all badge stickers. Marcus graduated from Wakefield High School in 2007 and Kansas Weselyan University with a degree in Criminal Justice.

OFF TO A GREAT START

8.24.10
I'm so proud of how well the children are adapting to our full days of school. We crossed off Day 4 today on our counting chart! Only 96 more school days until we celebrate the 100th day of school! Seems like a long time, but how fast the time will pass. Thank you all for helping with the homework assignment sent yesterday. Our homework days will be on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Today we added the first words to our word packages. The children will bring home their word packages to practice on Wednesday. I appreciate the time you have taken to fill out the parent paperwork. This helps me to know your child better! I'm excited for the new year. I'm feel mighty special that you send me your children every day to help become the best learners they can be! I'll take very good care of the children and truly believe that they need to enjoy and experience "being little" as they grow up much to quickly!

MY NEW CLASS

WELCOME BACK!

Greetings to all my new and previous students! I hope you have all had an enjoyable summer. My husband and I have been traveling and seeing all kinds of new sites. We explored a cave in Missouri and went canoeing down the Elk River. Coach Seirer and I just got back from Estes Park, Colorado where we went hiking and fishing. We saw moose and had a black bear on our deck. I was able to spend time on the family farm and help with harvest. Now it’s time to get ready for a new school year. This will be my 30th year teaching first grade at Wakefield School. I’m excited to meet the new class and start our year. The classroom will look a little different as new windows were just put in. The enrollment schedule is listed below:

Monday, August 9 (new students only) 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Tuesday, August 10 12:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Wednesday, August 11 7:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

This is the supply list for First Graders at Wakefield School. Please do not purchase any additional supplies that are not listed. Our desks are limited to space and extra supplies will be sent home. Coach Seirer will be selling Y-Tie shoestrings during enrollment times. I highly suggest you purchase a set so that tying shoes and keeping them tied will be much easier.
