FIRST DAY OF SPRING
HaPpY First Day of Spring!! Wishing you warmth, sunshine and lots of outdoor recess days!! Spend time outside and enjoy the wonderful weather.
SPRING BREAK
I hope your Spring Break was warmer than ours. Coach Seirer and I spent the week in the Rocky Mountains. We went on a 6 hour snowshoe trip. We made it to Mills Lake and then crossed the lake up to Jewell Lake. It was hard work but we were proud that we accomplished this climb in the the cold and windy mountain weather. It feels good to be rested and ready to return to the HIVE. Sweet dreams little bees...see you Monday, March 21 bright and early!!

2ND GRADE ARROW WAY MATH STRATEGY
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Urlh2P3ioc
The 2nd graders have learned an addition strategy called the Arrow Method. It is just like a strategy that we use on a number line. Here is a video that may help parents understand. If you have questions, please feel free to contact me. I'd be glad to go over the strategies that we use in addition and subtraction.

2ND GRADE BOOK STUDY
The 2nd graders are doing a book study this month. The students are reading "The Boxcar Children" by Gertrude Chandler Warner. We are all very excited to read a chapter book together. After reading each chapter the children have a Literacy Packet that they work in for comprehension and vocabulary practice. I have planned several enrichment activities and projects for this study. After we finish Book #1 the children will be eager to read the many books that this author has written for young children. HaPpY Reading 2nd graders!!
